Hoje recebemos duas visitas super especiais em nossa casa aqui em Galway: Marcos Losekann e Sérgio Gilz - correspondente da TV Globo de Londres! A conversa foi ótima e tivemos a oportunidade de mostrar um pouco mais do nosso dia a dia na Irlanda, além do atual desafio que vivemos na competição em busca do emprego dos sonhos. A matéria vai ao ar no Brasil np domingo, 2 de maio, no Fantástico.

Foi uma experiência inesquecível recebe-los aqui, além, e claro, de ver em ação um time que já cobriu historias incríveis pelo mundo. Com certeza - um dia que nunca será esquecido!

Passeamos por Galway e pela região de Clare. Foi através dos cenários deslumbrantes que tentamos mostrar para eles o 'porque' que gostamos tanto da Irlanda e escolhemos este lugar para viver.

We just had a couple of very special guests in our house in Galway today. TV Globo from Brazil sent their London-based correspondents to Ireland to do a story on us!

It was a 'day-in-the-life' piece for an entertainment programme in Brazil, called Fantastico. We took them around Galway and on a scenic spin to Clare to show them why we love this country so much. It was an amazing experience to see a team in action who have covered some of the most important global stories. We learnt a lot today!

Later on we are going to do a full media update....we have already posted all of this on the runawaybrideandgroom Facebook page, but we will show you again all the pieces that helped us to get where we are today. Wow, how can we ever forget that article in the Correio Popular of Campinas, Dani's home city...it changed everything and definitely has a special place here.

For us every single published article means the world. Not because we are media hogs (to be honest, we are much more used to be behind the microphone and camera - even though we could definitely get used to the attention), but because everyone who wrote about us showed they also believed on our potential. And, loved the Ultimate Job story!!

But for now, we want to share with you an article that was published by the online Epoca Negocios magazine, and spent most of yesterday on the front page of the news website globo.com, the Brazilian media giant knowing worldwide for its soap operas.

The article in Epoca Negocios is about dreams, love and the Ultimate Job. It describes superbly Dani's journey since she left Brazil, from the time when she was working as a waitress in a fancy Portobello Road restaurant and saved every penny to travel and pay for her studies. It also tells our love story, and seems to have caught people's imagination. By the end of the day it was the fourth most read news article on the whole site, and we got more than 5,000 views on our video yesterday.And, many, many comments from new friends :)

Well, here is a translation of a portion of the article for you guys to have a glimpse!

'The dream job for any couple in love and passionate for travelling is closer to a Brazilian. With a South African boyfriend and living in Ireland, Daniela Griss is in between a group of 10 couples finalists to conquer the "dream job": to travel through paradisiacal places testing the recipe for the perfect honeymoon. The competition promoted by the company Runaway Bride & Groom, which realizes weedings in Ireland and in any other place in the world, gets to an end on the 9th of May. Like it happens with the candidates for president in Brazil, Daniela is in full campaign to convice the judges that ther and her loved one are the best team to 'test the honeymoon.'

'To pay for her travels, the Brazilian followed the example of many others in Europe: she used to hold down many jobs to save money. It has been like this since she left Porto Alegre for London to study English. Working as a waitress in a restaurante in Portobello Road in upmarket Notthing Hill (do you remember Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant?), she learned the language and saved enouth pounds to pay for an MA in International Journalism.' 'It was at the end of the Masters that she met, by chance, her boyfriend. 'I used to share a house with many people, and there was also a South African housemate that went to travel and said that ther boyfriend's brother was going to spend some time in the house. One day, in the kitchen, I bumped into Dave, liked him, and that was it', she says.'

'When Dave decided to move to Ireland, where his brother was living, Daniela liked it even more. They ended up in Galway, a city on the west coast of ireland. Apart from sharing the love for travelling, both also enjoy bodyboarding - and surf in the North Atlantic. 'The water is reaaaallly cold'. Though this was the good part, it was difficult to stay apart for one year while Daniela was studying International Studies in South Africa. But with the help of the internet and phone, they managed to keep the relationship going. 'Well, it was really hard, but everything worked out', she recalls.'

Durante um papo com um editor de um site sobre matérias de viagens, recebemos uma dica valiosíssima: escrever sobre viagens é como uma arte, difícil de fazer bem, e super fácil de cair no lugar comum. É com este pensamento que tentamos produzir os textos dos nossos vídeos e reportagens impressas.

Para competição pelo “The Ultimate Job”, além do vídeo, nos também tivemos que escrever um texto de 200 palavras sobre o lugar que mais gostamos na Irlanda. Afinal, este e o emprego dos sonhos, mas, e também um trabalho. Parte deste trabalho será escrever matérias para o Irish Times, jornal irlandês de reputação excelente e que também patrocina esta competição, junto com os organizadores principais.

A parte mais difícil desta etapa foi escolher o nosso lugar favorito, já que aqui na Irlanda o que não faltam são lugares candidatos a "preferidos". Mas, depois de muita discussão, decidimos relatar a nossa viagem a Inis Oir, uma das Ilhas Aran. Depois de definido o local, outro problema foi resumir em 200 palavras esse local repleto de história e cenários deslumbrante do qual você poderia escrever um livro num piscar de olhos.

Para quem não teve a chance de conferir esta amostrinha do nosso primeiro texto enviado ao concurso, aqui esta:

Ao mesmo tempo em que o cenário dramático dos Penhascos de Moher desaparece lentamente, a menor e mais próxima das Ilhas Aran começa a se revelar. Golfinhos seguem o nosso barco durante a jornada de 45 minutos até a ilha Inis Oirr, e enquanto admiramos as piruetas deles, como numa dança sincronizada, passamos a ter certeza de que estamos prestes a descobrir um lugar encantador.

Inis Oirr nos recebe com as águas azuis turqueza de uma pequena praia com areais brancas. Nas paredes da nossa pousada, fotos antigas chamam a nossa atenção. Vacas são colocadas nos chamados 'currachs' (pequenos barcos tradicionais da Irlanda), e depois, em mar aberto, transferidas para um barco maior. O dono da pousada, Peader, explica que até não muito tempo atrás, era assim que tudo chegava ou saia de Inis Oirr.

Foi neste clima pitoresco que alugamos bicicletas e nos perdemos nos tradicionais e conservados labirintos de muros de pedra que cobrem a ilha. Em uma das curvas no caminho que leva ao castelo O'Brien, um nativo conduzindo uma carroça soltou uma piada: 'cuidado, o semáforo em frente esta quebrado' (para os que não sabem, Inis Oirr só tem meia dúzia de carros e semáforo ainda não chegou la).

Enquanto soltávamos uma boa gargalhada, nos entendemos que fora o cenário deslumbrante da ilha, são os seus 250 habitantes, a preservação da língua e da cultura, e a ligação deles com o oceano, que fazem de Inis Oirr um local tão especial.

Obs: eu peco desculpas desde já se a tradução para o português não faz justiça ao texto em inglês.

During a chat with an editor of a travel website, we received a valuable tip: writing about travel is an art, difficult to do well and all too easy to fall into mediocrity. And with this in mind, we try to produce the stories for our videos and written articles.

For this competition, apart from the video, we also had to write a piece of 200 words about our favourite place in Ireland. After all, this is the dream job, but it is still a job. And part of the work entails writing travel pieces for the Irish Times, a prestigious Irish newspaper co-sponsoring the competition along with main organisers.

The hardest part of this task was to choose our favourite place, since in Ireland there are no shortage of candidates for 'favourite' on our list!

Yet after much deliberation, we decided to write about our trip to Inis Oirr, one of the Aran Islands. After deciding on the location, the next problem was to summarise our thoughts into less than 200 words, on a place where you could easily write a book in a heartbeat.

For those who didn't have the chance to read the piece, here it is below:

As the dramatic landscape of the Cliffs of Moher slowly receded, the smallest and nearest of the Aran Islands revealed itself. Dolphins followed our ferry on the 45 minute journey to Inis Oirr, and watching them frolic off the bow, we knew we were about to discover an enchanting place. Inis Oirr's turquoise waters received us with the view of a small white beach. On the walls of our B&B, some old pictures caught our attention. Cows were being placed into currachs (small traditional boats), and hoisted onto a larger boat. Owner Peader explained to us that not long ago, that was how everything would arrive and leave Inis Oirr. It was with this sense of history that we rented bicycles and got lost in the maze of pristine stone walls that cover the four square mile island. Rounding a corner on our way to O'Brien's castle, a local pony trap driver jovially remarked 'look out, the traffic lights ahead are broken!' As we laughed, we understood that apart from the astonishing scenery, it was the 250 inhabitants, the preservation of their language and culture, their resilience and their bond with the ocean that makes Inis Oirr so unique.

Every now and then we hear the word globalisation... well, globalisation can be examined from various viewpoints and its direct and indirect effects are felt in many sectors of the world today, including one that we feel in our hearts and we will call this the 'globalisation of love'

In the times of our ancestors, it would be hard enough to get together with someone in a nearby town... let alone a foreigner. After all, travelling long distances was quite complicated. But there was always the small chance that it could happen. In Brazil for example, you could bump into a charming Italian immigrant who would win you over with his amore mio charms. Dani's grandmother was herself a descendant of Germans who were stranded in Brazil, whilst Dave's father left England and stole his mother's heart in South Africa.

But nowadays, this so-caled globalisation of love is increasingly common. If it was already possible back then, well today... just look at us as an example. Dave is from South Africa and Dani is from Brazil, they met in London and now live in Ireland as adopted children of Galway City... mmmm, the globalisation of love generates such an identity crisis!

Well, one of the problems of the globalisation of love is communication. Whilst it's quite true that the language of love is universal, to speak each other's language definitely helps. Our luck is that Dani is fluent in English. Dave is still learning his first words of Portuguese... you know the ones that don't leave the bedroom?

Unfortunately many people in Dani's country do not speak English and since everyone is dying to know more details about The Ultimate Job in the Worldm, we decided to make our posts on the blog in English as well as Portuguese. In Dave's country there are 11 official languages, but if we want to write in 12 languages, it's going to be a real Tower of Babel - ahhh, this globalisation of love...

So, as much as is reasonable, our blog will be bilingual. This should make the competition even more international and it will also make it easier for our followers in the rest of South America. Although they speak Spanish, in most cases they can also read Portuguese ... ahhh, and there is still Portugal, Angola, Mozambique, and so on....

Vira e mexe ouvimos o tal termo globalização....a globalização pode ser analisada sob vários pontos de vista, e seus efeitos diretos e indiretos sentidos em inúmeros setores do mundo atual, incluindo, um que nos vivemos na pele, e que vamos chamar de amor globalizado.

La nos tempos dos nos nossos tataravós seria bem mais difícil que eles fossem engatar um romance com um pretendente de uma cidade vizinha...quanto mais um estrangeiro, afinal, viajar longas distancias era bem complicado. E lógico que de repente no Brasil, por exemplo, você poderia esbarrar num imigrante italiano cheio de charme, que iria te conquistar com um papo de amore mio, a la Terra Nostra. A avó da Dani mesmo era descendente de Alemães que foram parar no Brasil - o pai do Dave saiu da Inglaterra e foi roubar o coração da mãe dele lá na África do Sul.

Mas hoje em dia, o tal do amor globalizado esta cada vez mais comum. Se já era possível naquela época, agora então....Olha a gente como exemplo. O Dave lá da África do Sul e a Dani lá do Brasil foram se encontrar em Londres, e agora, vivem na Irlanda como filhos adotivos da cidade de Galway.....ihhhh, o amor globalizado gera uma confusão de identidade.

Bom, um dos problemas do amor globalizado é a comunicação. É bem verdade que a língua do amor é universal, mas que um falar a língua do outro ajuda, ahhh, isso ajuda. A nossa sorte é que a Dani fala inglês fluente. O Dave ainda esta aprendendo as primeiras palavras de português...sabe aquelas para dizer entre quatro paredes?

Só que no Brasil muitos não falam inglês, e como todos estão loucos para saberem mais detalhes sobre o tão falado emprego dos sonhos, decidimos fazer as nossas entradas aqui no blog em inglês e também em português. Na África do Sul existem 11 línguas oficiais, mas se a gente for querer escrever em todas as línguas, vai virar uma baderna geral - ahhhh, este amor globalizado.

Então, a medida do possível, o nosso blog será bilingue. Assim, deixamos a competição ainda mais internacional, e também fica mais fácil para os nossos seguidores dos outros países da América do Sul nos acompanharem. Apesar de falarem espanhol, na maioria das vezes eles também conseguem ler bem o português....ahhh, e também tem Portugal, Angola, Moçambique, e por ai vai....
